Executive Summary: GuideMe

Our App Guideme, is a Tour App that encompasses local flavor, affordability, trip customization and travel ease.

Unmet Need/ Opportunity:

There are over 1 billion worldwide travelers in a given year (cite), and a large percentage of this population utilize tours to simplify and enhance their traveling experience. With an increase in use of mobile devices in the travel industry, we offer the opportunity to let prospective travelers connect with locals around the world and customize their own travel plan, all whilst retaining convenience and affordable cost. There are many tour centered companies and apps on the market, but they are expensive to use, require extensive planning, lack simplicity, and neglect unique destinations.

App Overview:

GuideMe connects those people who want to be tour guides with those who want to be guided. If an individual wishes to travel to a particular destination, they can connect with a selection of guides in their chosen destination, and through our profiling system, select them based on their expertise, rating, or preferences.

Why Mobile?

Exercising an app interface allows us to take advantage of the functionality features built into a phone while creating a safer exchange of personal information in a convenient way. Our app intently focuses on convenience, so a high velocity service is our outstanding quality. The smartphone is facilitator for our service and business transactions.

Overview of Target Market:

After considering age, technological skills, impulsive decision making, and cost it became apparent that we are targeting Millennials. It is reported that 23% of the traveling population are Millennials (cite). We took the percentage of the Millennial population and multiplied it by the number of people who travel out of their country in a given year, giving us a target market of 253 million people.

Revenue Model:

GuideMe adheres to the Fee Model in which a fee will be charged for a service. However, we are the facilitator of financial transactions between our guides and app users; we will not be charging a fee to download the app or for a subscription. Instead, we will be taking a percentage of the tour guides commission. Specifically, our business will be mirroring Uber and the way they make revenue for their company. Tourists will pay the tour guide for their services through the app, and their credit card will be immediately charged. (notes: should we state here the percentage we plan on taking?
