STAGING
The Monumentis designed for a ¾ round stage (audience on almost all sides – stage on same level as first row of audience). We require minimal or no masking; in most cases, the less decoration or masking of the theatre walls, the better. The minimum playing area is 20 ft x 20 ft (6m x 6m). Minimum grid height is 14 ft.
Sound: live drumming and singing. Lighting: simple touring plot and live candles in secure holders. The candles are integral to the piece and cannot be replaced. The performance is in Kinyarwanda, our SURTITLES in English or French will be projected onto 1 screen, screen to be provided by the theatre if possible.
IMPORTANT:
If you have not already done so, please forward the following:
- a ground plan of the theatre indicating stage, house, backstage, booth, and dressing rooms
- a section showing stage, house, booth, and grid
- an electric plan showing grid, circuit positions, and any permanent fixtures
- complete inventories of lighting and sound equipment, masking types and availability
- photographs of the theatre interior showing unmasked upstage wall and several angles of the stage, including
audience seating (preferably emailed). *All plans must be to scale.

* The Company stage manager will run the surtitles from our laptop. If our Lighting Designer is not with us, we will require one technician to run our lighting from the house system.
