  • Co-Principal Investigator of an Innovation and Frontiers Fund grant Doubling theNumber of Physics Doctorates Awarded to Blacks and Hispanics, funded by the National Science Foundation. Funding was $131,000. (2009-2010).
  • Principal Investigator from 2006 to 2008 of the ChaMPES (Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Marine Science, and Physics Scholarships) grant, an S-STEM grant funded by the National Science Foundation. Funding was $500,000. (2006-2010).
  • Principal Investigator on 5 grants from Jefferson Lab for graduate student scholarships and joint faculty positions. Funding was $128,000 annually. (2006-2008).
  • Co-Principal Investigator and Program Director from 2002 to 2008 for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP) Implementation Project funded by the National Science Foundation. Funding was approximately $6,000,000. (1999-2008).
Principal Investigator from 1997 to 2008 of the Undergraduate Institute in Physics -Research Experiences for Undergraduates(REU) and the Teacher Institute for Research in Physics – Research Experiences for Teachers(RET) programs funded by the National Science Foundation. Funding was approximately $113,000 annually. (1997 - 2010).
  • Principal Investigator for the Program for Improving Success in Sciences, Engineeringand Mathematics funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Funding was $298,000. (1999-2002).
