Classwork: Science: I Am Starting a Measurement Unit in Science Class. We Will Be Working

March Newsletter

March is going to be a long month. Hopefully the weather will stay nice so we won’t have to change our schedule too much. As of now, there are only a few announcements or new information.

Classwork: Science: I am starting a measurement unit in Science class. We will be working on this for the next month or so. We will pick up with the Physics of Sound after the last Foss kits arrive. ixl.com/signin/neshaminy section BB will be highlighted with these skills to practice.

Math: We are finishing Chapter 14 on fractions next week, the test is Wednesday. Then we will move on to Geometry of Shapes. I will change the ixl.com/signin/neshaminy site to reflect the chapters we will be working on. These activities will be highlighted in the sections under the letters CC,DD, & EE

Homework: The students have been doing a great job getting the weekly assignments done on time (Red Weekly Math and Yellow Reading Folder by Friday). The third grade teachers will be transitioning over to a different weekly reading comprehension practice passage. (see below)

Weekly Reading Comprehension Passages – The students will be getting a practice passage each Friday. The reading, multiple choice questions, and Open Ended question need to be finished and turned in by Thursday. Any that are not done, will be completed during recess. We are trying to teach the students good test taking habits, which they will hopefully transfer to any actual test taking situations. We have taught them to read and highlight the questions first, then read the story. It is so important for them to look back into the passage to find and prove answers to both the multiple choice and open ended responses.

Students should continue reading and practicing math. Razkids.com and ixl.com/signin/neshaminy are great sites to use and can be used on the Reading Log and Math Calendar. You can also use the MAP practice sites listed on my website, under Websites for Students. My website also has the daily homework if your child forgets his/her homework book at school.
