1. POSITION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION:
A classroom teacher at Glen Waverley Secondary College is charged with the responsibility of designing and delivering an educational program for their students which is consistent with the aims and objectives of the College including those incorporated into the College’s Vision and Values statement, Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. These documents identify a number of important foci for the work of all teachers, including

·  To develop students as 21st Century learners through the implementation of the College Powerful Learning Framework.

·  To implement the College Instructional Model

·  To integrate the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to support and enhance educational outcomes for all students.

·  To personalise the learning so that all students make progress

·  To care for students as individuals by catering for their physical, emotional and academic needs.


An annual performance and development process, based on the Department of Education Domains of Teaching, provides feedback on the extent to which teachers have addressed and contributed to improving the quality of teaching and learning and the educational outcomes achieved by their students. In addition, all teachers are expected to participate in on-going professional learning related to the College strategic priorities.
In addition to their classroom duties, teachers are also required to perform additional duties allocated by the Principal in accordance with state system requirements and School Council policies.

DUTIES:
The main duties to be performed by a classroom teacher are to:
2.1 Implement the College’s Vision and Values statement

2.2. Ensure the safety of all children in line with the College commitment to Child Safety and other relevant College policies and processes.
2.3 Incorporate the principles of the College’s ‘Twenty- First Century Learning Framework’ into their classroom practice in conjunction with the Victorian Curriculum General Capabilities.

2.4 Incorporate the College Instructional Model into daily teaching practice
2.5 Personalise learning to ensure all students make progress


2.6 Integrate the use of appropriate information and communication technologies (ICT) into their classroom programs.
2.7 Undertake direct teaching of classes of students and individual students and other non-teaching supervisory duties as determined by the College Principal.
2.8 Participate in the broader College program including parent/teacher/ student conferences, staff meetings, learning area meetings, camps and excursions, and any other appropriate meetings and programs.


2.8 Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of College teaching and learning programs


2.9 Participate in regular professional learning activities.
2.10 Undertake other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the College Principal.
