Classroom Materials:

  • Binder w/ dividers or3 Subject Notebook–Keep this organized throughout the year with each section labeled as follows:
  • Do Now
  • Class Notes
  • Homework
  • Folder - Needed to keep worksheets, quizzes, tests and any other papers organized as you work on them throughout the year.
  • Highlighters –Two different colors is preferred
  • Textbook – Students should keep their textbooks at home. Please cover your textbooks and treat them with care.
  • Scientific Calculator (REQUIRED) – we prefer TI-30XIIS but any scientific calculator will be fine.
  • Graphing Calculator (highly recommended) –Helpful when workingon some assignments in class, standardized tests and for future math courses.
  • Cell Phones – Cell phones may be used in class when instructed by the teacher for educational purposes. When not used for instructional purposes, students are expected to keep their cell phones away or in a designated spot in the classroom. Cell phones should be used to enhance classroom time, not taking away from it! Cell phones are expected to be in the cell phone holder during any exam, if a student is found with a cell phone in their possession during an exam it will result in an automatic zero as per school policy.
  • Pencils – Bring them EVERYDAY to school/class.

EXTRA CREDIT:The following items can be brought in as a donation to the classroom for up to 5 extra credit points (1 point per item) per marking period: Tissue boxes, box of pencils, graph paper packs, whiteboard markers, and loose-leaf paper packs

Classroom Procedures

  1. Be on time and seated when the bell rings with your notebook and something to write with on your desk.
  2. Begin the Do-Now at the start of class, do not wait for the teacher or the bell to tell you to start!
  3. Please be prepared with your completed homework everyday.
  4. Follow instructions as given, when they are given.
  5. No food or drinks allowed inclass.
  6. Always show respect for yourself, your fellow classmates, and your teachers.

Bathroom/Hall Pass

In order to leave the room students must have their school ID visible and student planner.Students must ask permission in order to leave class and cannot leave during the first/last 5 minute’s class. Students are only allowed to be out of the room for 10 minutes. If a student is out of the room for more than ten minutes then they will be written up for a miss use of pass or cut depending on how long they are out.

Grading Policy

Your marking period grade will be determined as follows. Individual category grades will be determined by: sum of earned points total possible points.

  • 80% - Tests and Quizzes – or any major projects or assignments.
  • 10% - Homework –will be checked daily for completion, everyproblem should be attempted in order to receive full credit. Work not completed will count against you; however, work with incorrect answerswill not. PLEASE SHOW ALL of YOUR WORK! Some homework assignments may be collected to be graded to evaluate understanding of the material.
  • 10% -Classwork and Preparedness – please participate in all classroom activities and complete all classwork in a timely manner.

Request to Retest

If you earn below a 70% on an exam, you may request to retest. Request forms can be found in the classroom. The form requires students to complete correct test corrections for every problem done incorrectly and schedule a retest time either during study hall, lunch or afterschool. Retests can be completed up to one week prior to the end of the marking period. The highest grade you can earn on the re-test is a 70%.

Extra Help

I am available most Tuesday’s afterschool to provide extra help. If you have conflicts after school and are unable to come for extra help, I will try to work with you before school startsby appointment only. PLEASE come see useif you are struggling at any point throughout the year. I am here to help! The sooner your questions are answered the better you will do in my class. The only stupid question is the one left unasked!

Absent from School or Class

If you are absent from my class, it is your responsibility to get your missed work/assignments from me the next day you are back. I expect the missed work to be made up in a timely manor and shown to me once completed. If the work is not made up, it will go down as a zero in my grade book.
