Classification of Non Public and Charter School Committee

Attendance: Ed Stores (exec. committee), Ed O’Brian, Joe Spasoto (past president), Chris Belmont, Tom Schmandt, Mike Bromley, Brian Moran, Mike Rapone, Rick Roche.

New member welcomed: Rick Roche (Freddie Thomas HS)
Tom Schmandt will represent committee on Monday, September 19, 2011 in Albany.
Ed Stores reiterated that this committee only handles Non-Public/Charter Schools. The Executive Committee handles all other requests for reclassification.
Batavia Notre Dame Girls Softball reviewed:
Mike Rapone presented rosters, scores, and other information.
2nd Sectional Title in 33 years…1 league Title…
No transfers from outside schools were on the team.
JV team did NOT win a game.
7-0 vote to leave in current Classification (D1) 1 abstention
Aquinas Girls Softball reviewed:
Toni Bianchi presented rosters, scores.
2012 team will consist of half the players in 10th or 9th grade.
Lost number 3 and 4 hitters that provided majority of offense and solid defense.
(both of these were 1st Team Players
53 RBI’s combined and .385 & .591 batting avg’s).
Top pitcher is returning
Almost folded the JV team due to lack of numbers.
No Modified program
Sport Coordinator felt they belong where their numbers are.

Won in Sectional in Class A 2007
8-0 vote to leave in current Classification (B1)
Webster-Christian Baseball reviewed:
Keith Bell AD presented information.
Will be decent next year…not nearly the abilities of this year’s team.
Graduated player of the year (pitcher/ss) and 4 other impact players including All-League catcher (don’t have another catcher in the program).
Now, bulk of roster will be 10th graders.
NO JV or Modified program.
Lost to Lyndenville in qualifier and regular season badly (9-0 & 10-4).
8-0 vote to leave in current Classification (D2)
Harley-Allendale Columbia Girls and Boys Tennis reviewed:
Pete Mancuso and Nate Merritt presented:
Girls tennis is already underway. Committee will wait to review girls next fall.
Presented detailed information including enrollment, financial aid structure, participation (school requirement), transfer policies & numbers and where students came from.
League/Sectional records. Went independent from FingerLakes League for better overall competition.
Play a few from league but mainly in Monroe County
Claim that Monroe County plays 7pt. (AA & A) matches as opposed to 5pt. in FingerLakes and B/BB Sectionals.
Won 5 Sectional Team titles B & BB in a row
Travel to California, Florida, Maryland, NYC, Albany, Syracuse.
Roster numbers are good.
League Coordinator feels it is time for a move.
8-0 to move up to A Classification in Individual and Team Sectionals
