CLASS TITLE:RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work planning and conducting various administrative, fiscal or educational research studies and statistical investigations throughout a state agency.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Outlines research programs and compiles statistical data on studies of space utilization, building and equipment costs and projection, student enrollment, course offerings and related subjects.
  • Evaluates data and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Assists in auditing and analyzing auxiliary funds, debt service funds, and contracts and grants funds to determine conformance to existing accounting principles and standards.
  • Originates research programs in areas that have statewide impact and disseminates evaluation of data to other agencies.
  • Participates in in-service training programs of education and professional development.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of research and analysis.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Ability to plan, design and conduct research studies.

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to research and analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in statistics, research, analysis or program evaluation.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • A juris doctorate or doctorate from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
