CLASS TITLE:MULTI-ENGINE RECIPROCAL AIRCRAFT PILOT-FIREFIGHTING

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is piloting a multi-engine reciprocal aircraft and providing aerial firefighting surveillance for fire suppression operations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Pilots and navigates a multi-engine reciprocal aircraft in the performance of duties as required by the employing agency.
  • Coordinates and provides aerial firefighting surveillance and intelligence for fire suppression operations for ground crews and aerial suppression.
  • Maintains flight logs and records of activities and prepares necessary flight reports and flight assignments.
  • Maintains aircraft maintenance operational cost records in order to estimate agency flight budgets.
  • Directs preventive maintenance of the aircraft to minimize out-of-service time.
  • Assists in the purchasing of aircraft and other related equipment by making preliminary investigations and writing specifications for use by the Division of Purchasing in the Department of Management Services.
  • Determines suitability of the weather for flying and the air worthiness of the aircraft.
  • Ensures that the aircraft is clean and maintained in an efficient manner.
  • Operates aircraft radio and other navigational aids.
  • Performs related work as required.
