CLASS TITLE:ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT - DJJ - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work assisting the superintendent in planning, coordinating, and directing the activities of an institution for the developmentally disabled or a training school with a staff in excess of 200 positions. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Advises in the formulation of policies, plans, and programs in all non-medical areas of operations.
  • Prepares evaluations on the effectiveness of programs and recommends changes.
  • Directs the preparation of reports concerning all phases of non-medical activities.
  • Interviews, screens and refers applicants for staff positions.
  • Directs the preparation of the budget.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities and operations and makes recommendations to the superintendent.
  • Maintains contact with courts, social agencies, student families and the public relative to institution goals and operations.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Florida Statute 985 requires any person employed in this class at the Department of Juvenile Justice must:
