All Applicants:

- Please attach a resume that lists the activities you have been involved in while attending USC.

- Please answer the following questions. Each answer should be typed, double spaced, and should not exceed more than 500 words.

§  If you are applying for Master/Mistress of Ceremonies:

1.- Describe the importance of a student being the Master of Ceremonies in the Chicano/Latino Graduate Celebration. Discuss why you want to apply for this position?

2.- Why do you identify yourself with the Chicano/Latino community?

§  If you are applying for Class Speaker:

1.-Describe the importance of having a Speaker in the Chicano/Latino Graduate Celebration. Discuss your qualities that would make you an effective Speaker in the Graduate Celebration.

2.- Why do you identify yourself with the Chicano/Latino community?

Special Instructions:

Please be aware that applicants will be required to make a presentation at the time of the audition/interview which will take place on Wednesday, March 2nd TBA or Thursday, March 3rd TBA. Please be aware that arrangements for different times will be made only under extreme circumstances. We will contact you to confirm your time.

- Master of Ceremonies Applicant: Please compose a speech of your choice to present to the committee in order for them to evaluate your public speaking abilities. It would be helpful if it included what you would be doing as an MC of the Graduate Celebration.

- Class Speaker Applicant: Please bring the complete speech at the time of your audition/interview. Speech should be between 4-6 minutes long. Please take into consideration the audience you will be addressing at the graduate celebration, which will consist of diverse Latin American communities, transfer students, spring admits, graduate students, commuter students and student leaders from a variety of organizations as well as majors/minors/programs/schools to name a few. Inclusivity of speech is highly important.

I understand that if I am selected, I will be required to attend the Graduate Celebration Committee meetings, which meet Mondays from 5:00pm-6:00pm at El Centro Chicano, and meet with the director of El Centro. It is imperative that I be flexible with my schedule in order to attend the committee meetings. If I am unable to attend those meetings, I understand that an alternative speaker or MC will be chosen.
