1.Start of Class
No Stash and Dash
Enter the room quietly.
Restroom and water before class.
Put away all your other belongings.
Write assignments down in your tracker.
Then read quietly until class begins.
2. First Period Only
When the moment of silence is announced stop all movement and talking.
Think about what you need to do to have a successful day.
Stand for the pledges.
Get back to your warm-up or reading when the pledges are done.
3. Tardy
Come in quietly.
Sign in on the tardy tablet (by the door) with your name, period and date.
If you have a pass, hand it to the teacher.
Take your seat and begin work.
You may quietly check with a neighbor if you need help getting caught up.
4. After an Absence
Write “absent” at the top of all papers before turning them in.
Turn in any assignments you had that were due while you were gone.
Check for missed assignments on the board.
Get any missing papers from the folders in the folders on the bookcase by the door.
If you missed a lab, check with the teacher for make-up work to be done at home.
5. Homework
Will be posted in the classroom.
Some homework will be collected for a grade, others will be gone over in class.
Listen carefully to instructions.
Homework for a grade will be collected following the class procedure (below).
Other assignments will be glued into your notebook.
6. Heading for Papers
All papers must have:
your name
(first and last),
period, and
date and
CP or PHS
on them.
7. If you Finish Early
If you finish your work/activity before the end of class then do the following things in the order listed.
a. update your planner
b. Work on your homework for science.
c. Work on your homework for another class.
d. read
8. Classroom Visitors
When visitors come into the classroom continue to work.
If you need to be informed of something the teacher will do so. Otherwise it is none of your business.
9. Teacher Needs Your Attention
We will use the give me five method. Ms. Chronister will raise her hand.
1. eyes on speaker
2. quiet
3. be still
4. hands free (put things down)
5. listen
This should only take 5 seconds.
10. Substitute Teachers
Follow all established procedures.
11. Emergencies/Drills
Sit quietly and wait for instructions.
Then stand up quietly and follow those instructions.
Be sure to push in your chairs so others have a clear path to exit or move about the room.
12. Video Watching
Sit quietly
Take notes – put the title of the video at the top of the page. Number every other line up to the number of facts required for that video.
As you watch write a complete fact next to each number.
Raise your hand if you need the video rewound or paused.
13. Lab Days
Wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Do not touch any lab equipment until the teacher tells you to do so.
No food or drink in the classroom on lab days.
Follow all instructions carefully.
Begin clean up when 5 minutes left in class.
Follow all safety rules.
14. Quiz Days
Follow the normal start of class procedures.
Be very quiet during the quiz.
Keep your eyes on your own paper.
When you are done testing read a book. Teacher will come around to collect your papers.
15. Test Days
Follow the normal start of class procedures.
Be very quiet during the test.
Keep your eyes on your own paper.
When you are done testing read a book. The teacher will come around to collect your papers.
16. End of Day
When there are two minutes left in class, pack up your belongings, stack up any materials on the table.
Stay in your seat and wait for the teacher to dismiss you.
17. Working Independently
When working on solo assignments you should be working, not talking. If you need assistance, raise your hand for help.
If collaboration is allowed, that will be clearly stated before the activity begins.
18. Classroom Discussion
- Only one person at a time talking.
- You should be actively listening – this means if you get called on you will be aware of what the discussion is about.
- Do all fidgeting silently.
19.Cell Phones in Classroom
- Cell Phones are to put away at all times unless told specifically by the teacher they will be used for a classroom assignment.
