ATTENDANCE
25 % Shows up in class. / Student is always on time and regularly attends classes. / Student is absent one or two times. / Student is late three times and may be late sometimes. / Student has four or more absences in the semester. Zero points for 5+ absences.
PUNCTUALITY
25 % Arrives to class AND on time. / Student is on time regularly or early for class. / Student is usually on time or early (one or two tardies). / Student is sometimes on time (three or four tardies). / Student is often late, four or more times. Zero points for 5+ tardies.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOUR
25 % Participates in class. / Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions. / Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions. / Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. / Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions.
PREPARATION
25 % Brings all materials. / Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually. Student takes notes without being prompted to. / Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Student may need to be prompted to take notes. / Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Notes to student: (20 POINTS - 4 points each section) The rubric above shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class! I do understand that some students are shy and participate in ways other than class discussion.

Forms of participation other than participating in class discussion (although this is a primary form of participation) include coming to me for extra help, giving other students feedback in class, adhering to the no-voice and no-phone rule, consistent attendance, and being able to answer in-class ASL dialogue from both the teacher and other students.

If you get to the point of having a fair/poor participation grade in one or more areas, it will probably be recommended that you withdraw from the class, as you probably will not be able to keep up with the material. If a student is absent, he or sheloses points on the punctuality grade rubric also.
