CLASS MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES

All notes, papers, handouts, and graded assignments should be kept for the semester. Folder, Notebook, Pens/Pencils (you know the routine).

CLASSROOM FOLDERS

Each student has a folder that remains in class. Check your folder for handouts or returned assignments if you are absent.

TARDY

You are expected to be in your seat (with all necessary supplies and assignments) when the bell rings. If you are late to class, you will need to obtain a tardy slip and detention from the attendance office. Please plan ahead!

ABSENCES

Work is due within 48-hours of your return to school unless you have an extended, excused absence. If your absence is unexcused (you choose to skip class), you will receive a zero for all work due that day.

ASSIGNMENTS

All assignments are handed out in advance. Assignments are due at the beginning of your class period. FOR EVERY DAY AN ASSIGNMENT IS LATE, YOU WILL LOST 10% OF THE TOTAL POINTS EARNED. Please check with me for anticipated absences, including sports events.

CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is the act of passing off someone else’s ideas or words as your own without giving credit. Cheating or plagiarism on a quiz, test, exam, or assignment results in a zero for that assignment (or test or project) and disciplinary action, with no opportunity to make the work up.

EXTRA HELP

Each class includes a work period. I am also available before school, after school, by appointment, or during my prep periods.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Respect for Yourself and Others!

Portfolio Rubric: Expectations for On-going Analysis in War & Conspiracy

Your portfolio is a combination of your English notebook and published electronic work, including moodle and blog responses. While you will receive frequent feedback on your work, not all work will be formally assessed and graded. Your portfolio should be a place where you can explore and argue and think about your reactions and ideas to what we’re studying in class. Your portfolio should be a place of seed ideas, a place where you generate thoughts.
