NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION AND HOLD A PULIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the City of Vallejo Architectural Heritage and Landmarks Commission will hold a hearing on the proposal to adopt a MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION for the following project pursuant to Resolution 96-447 N.C. adopted by the Vallejo City Council on December 10, 1996.

APPLICATION: Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) #10-0039

LOCATION Mare Island Cemetery, (Azuar Drive); APN 0066-010-070

DESCRIPTION: The proposed project involves the replacement of six headstones that mark the graves of Russian sailors buried at the Cemetery in 1863 at the time of the Russian fleet’s visit to San Francisco. The replacement headstones are similar in design to other existing Russian headstones in the cemetery.

ENVIRONMENTAL Based on an Initial Study prepared by the Planning Division of the City of Vallejo, it
DETERMINATION: has been determined that the above project will not have a significant effect on the
environment because of the mitigation measures incorporated into the project or
recommended as conditions of project approval.

Copies of the Initial Study Environmental Review Checklist Form and supporting documentation can be reviewed in the Planning Division Office, Second Floor, 555 Santa Clara Street, Vallejo. The office is open 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The document can also be viewed on the City of Vallejo Website, www.ci.vallejo.ca.us.

PUBLIC HEARING: July 21, 2011

A public hearing on this project, including the proposal to adopt the Mitigated Negative Declaration, is tentatively scheduled before the Architectural Heritage and Landmarks Commission for
Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 555 Santa Clara Street, Vallejo.
