General:
Insurance Campaign
The Department of Health and Human Services Insure it. It's worth it campaign was launched on Monday 29th May. The campaign aims to encourage a higher uptake of insurance to help build more resilient communities. It seeks to educate lower income families about the risks of under or non-insurance, encouraging them to consider taking out insurance to cover their home and contents.
The campaign consists of primarily radio and facebook advertising targeted mainly at low income earners in disaster prone regions of Victoria. Brochures will also be produced and distributed to DHHS regional offices and campaign partners MFB, CFA and SES.

Thunderstorm Asthma
The final IGEM report has been released and Government has given in principle support to all the recommendations. DHHS is working with EMV and AV to progress the recommendations including developing emergency warnings and the development of a comprehensive thunderstorm asthma strategy that includes a public awareness and education campaign. Family Violence Strategy
In response to the Emergency Management Family Violence Strategy released by DHHS last year titled ‘Addressing family violence in communities recovering from emergencies’, DHHS have developed a one page guidance sheet that outlines key actions to be considered to help address family violence following an emergency. The guidance sheet is an appendix to the regional relief and recovery plan. The strategy is available at:

Bay Street Brighton – Homicide Incident
DHHS South Division have been involved in the Bay St Brighton incident working with Bayside City Council and leading recovery post the incident that occurred on Monday 5 June. Recovery activities have included coordination of recovery planning meetings, outreach activities in conjunction with VICPOL, VCC and Red Cross and development of an Incident Recovery Plan. The recovery committee has now concluded and coordination has transition to Bayside City Council to continue to monitor the situation.
