RESOLUTION AUTHORZING

THE CITY MANAGER

TO ENTER INTO AN CONTRACT WITH THE SOCIETY FOR THE

PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS OF WESTCHESTER, INC.

WHEREAS, the agreement between the City of Peekskill and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Westchester, Inc. (“SPCA”) expires on December 31, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the SPCA has submitted a new agreement for the 2017 calendar; and

WHEREAS, the City wishes to engage the SPCA to provide care and shelter for homeless and stray dogs and cats seized by animal control officers, police and other agents of the municipality; and

WHEREAS, the Common Council believes that it is in the City of Peekskill’s best interest to enter into this contract;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Peekskill does hereby authorize the Acting City Manager or his designee to execute said contract with the SPCA of Westchester, and be it further

RESOLVED, that the contract shall be subject to the review of the Acting City Manager and the Corporation Counsel; and be it further

RESOLVED, that this Resolution take effect immediately.
