PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKER

This position in the Public Works Water Department will perform a variety of semi-skilled repairs and maintenance, operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, and maintenance of City street repair, park maintenance, and other City services and systems depending on the City’s needs. May be assigned to other departments for water and sewer line repair.

Desired Qualifications:

·  High School diploma or GED equivalent

·  Valid Arizona Driver’s License. A current CDL will be considered a plus.

·  Some basic knowledge of equipment, many different hand tools, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities of water and sewer lines, streets repair, and parks maintenance. Knowledge to operate medium/heavy equipment, a plus.

·  Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, including physical capability of doing heavy lifting

·  Ability to work at all times of day or night, when directed, and ability to work within muddy and wet conditions, if warranted by the assigned tasks

·  Must be able to pass drug screen, physical exam and background check

·  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.

·  Ability to work with Department of Correction inmates.

·  Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and computer skills.

·  Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions

·  Ability and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

·  This position is subject to a probationary period of one (1) year.

STARTING SALARY: $11.50 hr. to $14.37 hr.
