WHAT DOES THE COURSE OFFER?

The Level 3 qualification is progression from Level 2 for entrants to the industry, providing you with the basic skills and experience you need to progress towardsgaining ‘Qualified Electrician’ status.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

50% completed in the workshop and 50% completed in the theory roomcovering the following topics:

  • electrical installation design
  • environmental technology systems
  • electrical science and principles
  • electrical installation craft
  • inspection, testing, commissioning
  • diagnosing and correcting electrical faults.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

If you are looking to towards becominga qualifiedelectricianin Electrical installation then this would be progression from level 2 or a start depending on experience.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

You will require 4 GCSEs at grade 9 -4 (A*- C) including English and Maths and will need to complete a successful interview in college, demonstrating your interest and commitment to study. Alternatively you should have a progressed from Level 1 Electrical Diploma.

You will gain a City & Guilds Diploma in Electrical Installation at Level 3

This course is not a NVQ, but a route towards gaining an NVQ.

HOW MANY HOURS, WEEKS, AND YEARS DOES IT LAST?

The core course will be run over 3 – 4 days per week for 36 weeks for 1 year. You will also have to attend Math’s and English lessons if applicable.…

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

You should bring a note pad and pen, some safety boots, ahiviz vest, hard hatand scientific calculator (Casio fx-83gt plus or Casio fx-85gt plus is preferred). Suitable work clothes in black or blue colour. Knee pad trousers and polo shirt recommended.
