Citing Sources for Research
When you are doing research, you are using other people’s ideas and information. It is important that you give them credit for their work, words, and ideas. This is done by citing your sources.
Plagiarism: If you use someone else’s words or ideas without citing them, this is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is like stealing that person’s work.
Copying someone else’s work or words and not citing it is also plagiarism.
How do I keep from plagiarizing? It’s simple! As you research, write down the sources where you get your information. You keep track of your sources in a BIBLIOGRAPHY. This bibliography will be attached to the end of your research assignment.
Bibliography: A source is cited depending on which source is being used. It is important to use capital letters and correct punctuation. Use this guide to help you cite your sources.
