Accessing Cisco Unity Inbox

This section describes the steps needed to access the Cisco Unity Inbox web tool for voice mail users. Unity Inbox is one of several web applications found in the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant site and contains a very useful feature enabling users to save voice mail messages to their desktop.

Logging into the web application

  • Logging into the Cisco Unity Inbox web tool requires a computer connected to UMC’s local network, or through a VPN.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the following URL: ; Press Enter
  • If prompted to accept security settings, click Yes.
  • Your user ID will be assigned by your system administrator
  • User Name: (this is your extension number)
  • Password: (this will be assigned to you by telephone services)
  • Contact Telephone Services at extension 8499 to receive your password
  • The next screen offers 3 options.
  • Select Cisco Unity Inbox

Saving Messages to Your Desktop

The following steps outline the procedures needed to save voice mail messages to your desktop.

  • Once logged into Cisco Inbox, voice mail messages will be displayed in a list
  • Select the message you wish to save by clicking on the message in the Fromcolumn
  • For example, this will be ‘Jeff Sinks’ in Figure 2
  • A pop up window opens, as shown below in Figure 3, containing additional information about the message

  • Click Options in the Message area shown in Figure 4and select Save Recording As…

  • A new window opens as shown below

  • Under Save In, choose the folder you wish to save the WAV audio file into
  • Give the File Name an appropriate title
  • Click Save

Change Password for Cisco Unity Inbox

  • First, log in to Cisco CPA
  • Select the first Cisco CPA web tool titled Cisco Unity Assistant shown in Figure 5

  • Mouse over Passwords on the menu bar and select Change Cisco PCA Password

  • The password must contain at least three of the following four characteristics: upper case character, lower case character, number, and symbol.
  • Click Save
