0287 Monocrotophos

Allocated to GB

CIPAC methods published in :

CIPAC E, p. 145

CIPAC 28th meeting, October 1984 in Baltimore

The compound was allocated to AOAC, but there had been no activity in AOAC. RENPAF had shown interest. It could be determined by GLC, HPLC or by titrimetry. The titrimetric method did not need standards, but GLC and HPLC equipment was available in most developing countries. Dr Quélennec remarked that WHO preferred modern methods. Mr Neuenschwander said that he would start with phosphamidon and then proceed to monocrotophos.

CIPAC 29th meeting, September 1985 in Copenhagen

According to Mr Bosshardt a HPLC reversed phase method was available and could be used by anyone interested. The compound was allocated to the AOAC, but they had shown no activity. Mr Bailey would check if PACGB was interested and Mr Bontoyan would see if the AOAC would relinquish it. Mr Bosshardt said that the standard might have to be supplied as a solution because the melting point was just above room temperature.

CIPAC 30th meeting, June 1986 in Vienna

Allocated to GB. The work could start soon. Representatives of Shell and CibaGeigy were cooperating to prepare a method. Mr Hou Yu Kai had sent a GLC method (CIPAC/3329), which should be taken into account.

CIPAC 31st meeting, June 1987 in Cascais

Mr Mathews presented the report (3377). Of the methods available the HPLC method had been chosen for further study. The results had been satisfactory and a full scale study could probably start later in the year. Mr Bailey remarked that PACGB had initiated the study on request of RENPAF. He would be happy to see it become a truly international study and he hoped that many people would participate.

CIPAC 32nd meeting, June 1988 in Geneva

Mr Mathews reported (CIPAC/3424) that a large number of laboratories had indicated a wish to participate, so much that the number had ultimately been limited to 17. Hopefully the study would be completed against the end of the year.

CIPAC 33rd meeting, May 1989 in Lagonissi

Mr. Mathews reported that there had been an excellent response to the trawl. The peak area height had been discarded because of unacceptable variances. The method could probably also be used for ULV and EC formulations.

Decision The HPLC method for monocrotophos technical and formulations, CIPAC/3494, was adopted as provisional CIPAC method.

CIPAC 0287 2

CIPAC 34th meeting, May 1990 in Tunisia

Decision The provisional HPLC method for monocrotophos technical and formulations, CIPAC/3494, was adopted as full CIPAC method.
