Championship Tournament

The CIF Los Angeles City Section Golf Championship Tournament will be a one day, 18 holes tournament..

Qualifying Scores:

To be entered in the Los Angeles City Section Championship Tournament as a team, the team must consistently shoot 215 for 9 holes during league play All scores must be played at a regulation golf course.

To be entered as an individual, students should consistently score fifteen (15) over

par for 9 holes during league play. All scores submitted must be from regulation golf

courses. A golfer who is unable to attend the championship should not be entered

by the coach.

Seeding and Entries

Entries will be based on average strokes above par at a qualifying course. League Managers are required to submit the scores. All scoring information must be emailed to Terry Sciarrino by Saturday, Oct. 22nd. Include the school, golfer’s name, grade, and average score over par. The committee will be made up of the Golf Coordinator and Tournament Assistant.

League Managers must send a copy of their League Standing, team averages, win-loss record and individual player averages over par to be submitted to the Athletics Office representative for archive purposes. League managers that do not submit required information at the seeding meeting will not receive FOG league manager funding. Schools qualifying up to three players must provide one scorekeeper for the championship. Schools qualifying four or more players must provide TWO scorekeepers. The names of the scorekeeper(s) must be provided at the time you submit your scores.

Officials: Every effort will be made to obtain a SCGA Official at the Championship to rule on situations that arise during the competition. If no official is available, all rule interpretations will be made by the tournament directors.

Spectators: Spectators will be allowed to follow the golfers during competition. All spectators must remain outside the tree line and off any playing area. No contact or communication with competitors will be allowed at any time. Any violations of this requirement will result in disqualification of competitor(s) involved. Spectators will not be allowed to use golf carts. (Please inform parents of your players) Physically disabled spectators must obtain approval from the Tournament Director to use a golf cart. Participating schools must ensure that parents and fans are notified of this policy.

Rules: For the Girls’ Championship, a team with qualifying scores shall be composed of at least five players but no more than six, with stroke play for eighteen holes to determine the City Championship Team. The team with the lowest five scores shall be declared the City Championship Team. At-large competitors will also play at this championship to determine their status in the individual competition.

a.  If there is tie for the last playing spot for Regionals there shall be a sudden death playoff with all individuals tied for the last position

4.  Coaches will be held responsible for enforcing the following rules:

i.  Cheating will not be tolerated whether intentional or not. (Disqualification)

ii. Players will be disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard. Mistakes in addition will not be penalized after correction. Individual scores must be accurate.

iii.  Giving advice within a group will not be allowed.(one warning, disqualification)

iv.  No electronic devices will be allowed to be used. All electronic devises must be stored in the players golf bag, remain out of sight and in the OFF mode. Violation penalty is disqualification.

v. Once a participant completes the competition, he/she is not allowed to return to the course. Only exception; competitors who have completed competition are allowed to await competitors at the 18th hole (Disqualification)

vi.  Competitors will not be allowed to wait in the parking lot or car for their coach or other players. All players that will remain for the award ceremony are required to remain near the 18th hole or the Club House area.

Regulations and Reminders for the City Championships

1.  All players are expected to display appropriate behavior at all times.

2.  All players must wear the appropriate clothing. Team shirts are required of all golfers. Girls: slacks, shorts (Bermuda length dress shorts), skirts. Golf shoes are recommended. For the LAUSD Invitational, tennis shoes are acceptable.

3.  Players and coaches must check-in between 7:30-8:00 A.M. at the scoring table.

4.  No club throwing, ball throwing, swearing, yelling or any other improper or abusive behavior will not be allowed. The penalty will be two strokes for the first infraction, and disqualification for the second infraction.

5.  Players may not receive information that could help the player during play. Any violations will result in disqualification.

6.  Spectators will be allowed to follow the golfers. All spectators must walk the course; remain outside the tree line and off any playing area. No contact or communication with competitors will be allowed at any time. Any violations of this requirement will result in the disqualification of the competitor. Spectators are not allowed to use golf carts at anytime (no exceptions).

7.  Smoking is not permitted in any area near or on the golf course, including the parking lot. Any player who violates this rule will be disqualified. Any spectator who violates this rule will be removed from the course.

8.  The maximum number of players per team is SIX. Schools with 3 – 6 entries must send two scorers to the tournament. Scorers will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Scorers must stay for the entire event.

9.  Coaches with golfers in the tournament are required to attend. Players whose coach does not arrive by check-in time will not be allowed to register/participate. Coaches who do not have players in the finals are requested to assist with management of the championship.

10.  No electronic devices will be allowed. All electronic devises must be stored in the players golf bag, remain out of sight and in the OFF mode. Violation penalty is disqualification

Awards All awards will be presented at the conclusion of the tournament. A Team

Championship Plaque and six medals will be presented to the first place student team and a Team Runner-up Plaque and six medals will be presented to the second place team. Medals will also be given to the top ten individual finishers.

CIF SCGA Southern California Regional Golf Tournament

Date/Location: Thursday, November 10– Arrowhead CC, San Bernardino, CA

Additional information will be sent to schools with qualifying teams and individuals.

Qualifiers: Individuals

Twelve Individuals and two 6-person teams

Five Scores will be counted for team scores.

CIF State Golf Championships

Date/Location Tuesday, November 15 – Red Hill Country Club, Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Qualifiers: Top three (3) teams from Northern Cal and Southern Cal Regional.

Top six (6) individuals form Northern Cal and Southern Cal Regional.
