INGREDIENT PROPERTIES
BPS
Phytosterol mixture (Beta Sitosterol, Beta Sitostanol, Campesterol, Campestranol)
Phytosterols or plant Sterols are lipidic substances with a structure similar to cholesterol. They are used in dietary supplements as they help to lower cholesterol levels.
They have recently been introduced into cosmetics because of their anti-inflammatory function and their ability to restore the barrier function.
Benefits of BPS in POST DEPIL SIMILDIET
Highly purifying phytosterol fraction with over 75% Beta-Sitosterol content
The molecule was tested by the Department of Sciences, Physiology and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Pavia (Italy) in May 2006.[SEE A SUMMARY OF THE RESEARCH IN THE FINAL SECTION OF THE FILE]
SERICINA
Normally known as the silk protein widely used in cosmetic applications.
Benefits of SERICINA in POST DEPIL SIMILDIET
The main active has been obtained from a delicateprocess of freeze drying. This process obtains the pure silk protein under controlled pressure and temperature conditions preventing the molecule from breaking causing inactivity and ineffectiveness.
As a final result the complete chain of silk protein is obtained keeping its final properties intact:
-Natural protector in the barrier function
-High moisturising action
-Repairs by stimulating precursor cells in collagen and elastin synthesis
-Conditioner improving the skins feel and smoothness.
ALLANTOIN
A product from protein metabolism. Stimulates the healing of wounds and accelerates cell regeneration. Also, has a keratolytic effect when applied topically.
PANTHENOL
Substance with a broad spectrum of activity. Used in dermatology for many decades as a healing stimulant for wounds. Panthenol is a biologically active alcohol which transforms into pantothenic acid (vitamin B5).
Numerous studies have demonstrated:
-High degree of regeneration thereby shortening healing time.
-Moisturising action and high water fixing and storage capacity.
-Good absorption by the skin
-Anti-inflammatory
-Anti-pruritic action (relieves stinging).
-Highly tolerant
LECITHIN
-Tightens the skin.
-Moisturising action
-Restructuring action
-Important source ofphosphatides
The cell membranes have ahigh lecithin content. Without lecithin the cell membranes would harden preventing protective action against oxidation damage.
TOCOPHEROL (Vitamin E)
Prevents polyunsaturated fatty acid oxidation and consequently guarantees firmness of the cell membrane and slows down the cell aging process: During the day, the skin is exposed to UV radiation and environmental contaminants capable of generating free radicals which damage the cell. Vitamin E protects cell membranes against the destructuring activity of the radicals.
Using vitamin E in this way in skin care products prevents premature aging caused by the environment
WHEAT GERM OIL
Used in cosmetics because of its tissue regeneration properties. It is useful for treating eczema and urticaria. Therefore it is a very good skin softener with good sun protection. It is used as an excipient in many cosmetic formulations
COCOA BUTTER
The use of chocolate has flourished in recent time and has filled a hole in the wide range of beauty treatments available on the market today.
Chocolate has been used in ancient times in widely documented beauty treatments with the references calling chocolate the “treatment of the gods”.
Nowadays it is used in cosmetics because of its lipolytic, anti-oxidant, draining, revitalising, smoothing and moisturising properties.
Its composition also hasessential amino acids having an immediate and visible tensing effect on the skin.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE MOLECULE
The molecule does not contain any substance prohibited by existing EU Cosmetic legislation. The preservatives in it are also not prohibited and are used in doses recommended by different European regulations.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the study was to evaluate the soothing activity of the PHYLCARE BPS molecule.
[Soothing: medicine which lessens or calms pain from a wound.]
DESIGN OF THE EXPERIMENT
To induce under experimental conditions an irritative reaction by applying a Laurel Sodium Sulphateskin patch (highly irritant substance).
The following activities were compared:
-PHYLCARE BPS formulated in an emulsion base.
-Emulsion base only without BPS.
-Control groupnot treated with any substance.
The study was carried out on human volunteers who gave their consent to their participation in the aforementioned study according to theHelsinki Declaration on ethical principles on medical research adopted by the 18th assembly of the World Medical Assembly, subsequently ratified in 1975, 1983, 1989, 1996 and most recently in 2000.
INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THE STUDY
20 healthy volunteers aged between 25 and 65 years. The volunteers met the following criteria:
-In good health
-No cutaneous pathologies which may interfere in the study
-Not receiving any medical treatment at the time of the study
-Commitment not to change their habits while the study lasts
INDUCTION OF CUTANEOUS IRRITATION
A cutaneous patch containing a Laurel Sodium Sulphate solution was applied for four hours. The application areas was the flat area on the forearm
MEDICAL PARÁMETERS
-Trans-epidermal water loss ( TEWL) measured using a Tewameter
-Erythema index measured using a Mexameter.
[When TEWL significantly increases as trans-epidermal water loss increases and therefore the skin’s barrier function is damaged.]
The parameters were measured at:
-Time 0
-Time 15 minutes
-Time 30 minutes
-Time 60 minutes
-Time 120 minutes
RESULTS
For TEWL measurement
The solution containing the base emulsion + PHYLCARE BPS showed:
-Trans-epidermal water recovery occurred a maximum of 120 minutes after application of the treatment.
-Trans-epidermal water loss was lower when the base emulsion only was applied
-Trans-epidermal water recovery to normal was quicker with emulsion + PHYLCARE BPS than with the emulsion only.
Finally treatment with BPS showed lower trans-epidermal water loss and a quicker recovery
For the erythema index
Erythema decreased in a statistically significant manner when emulsion + BPS was applied.
