AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE CITY OF MAULDIN CULTURAL CENTER DANCE INSTRUCTORS ROY JORDAN AND DOTTIE SCHIPPER ON WINNING THE FEBRUARY 2015CARING FOR THE CAROLINAS AWARD AND TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR FINE SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF MAULDIN.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that City of Mauldin Cultural Center dance instructorRoy Jordan and his assistant, Dottie Schipper, have won the February 2015Caring for the Carolinas Award, sponsored by Hardee’s, Bath Fitter, and Harrison White Smith & Coggins, PC; and

Whereas, every Monday evening, Roy and Dottie teach a ballroom dance class to children ages five and up. Their lesson is offered completely free of charge for all participants; and

Whereas, each week, the students learn different dance techniques and styles, including the waltz and swing. Students then go on to participate in local competitions, where some win awards for themselves; and

Whereas, to celebrate all the students have learned, the program will have a showcase, free to the public, on Sunday, April 26, 2015; and

Whereas, Roy and Dottie’s award presentation, hosted by Jack Roper, will be featured Tuesday, February 3, 2015, during the evening news broadcasts on WSPA7 and throughout the month of February; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, grateful for the consistent commitment and excellence City of Mauldin Cultural Center dance instructorsRoy Jordan and Dottie Schipper have demonstrated in their work, take great pleasure in saluting them on being selected to receive this honor, the February 2015Caring for the Carolinas Award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate City of Mauldin Cultural Center dance instructorsRoy Jordan and Dottie Schipper on winning the February 2015Caring for the Carolinas Award and thank them for their fine service to the citizens of Mauldin.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Roy Jordan and Dottie Schipper.
