Our Under the Tuscan Moondinner series continues at Pèppoli at Pebble Beach on October 8, 2010. Visiting chef Liza Shaw of the legendary A16 in San Francisco and Pèppoli chef Arturo Moscoso will each prepare two original dishes in the four course prix-fix dinner for you to choose from.

As most of you know, Pèppoli at Pebble Beach is our Tuscan themed restaurant that was inspired by the Antinori family's Pèppoli Vineyard in Tuscany. The restaurant features world-class Antinori wines paired with the elegant dishes of Firenze, rustic country cuisine of Chianti and colorful seafood fare of the Tuscan coast. Rich earth-tones, heavy tapestries and ceramics grace the restaurant, capturing the look of an authentic Tuscan villa.

The view of the sunset from the dining room at Pèppoli is spectacular this time of year.. The sun is setting at approximately 6:45 pm by the date of this dinner. It would be a nice idea to arrive early and enjoy a before dinner drink outside, listening to the Spanish Bay bagpiper and then enjoy the sunset from your dinner table at Pèppoli.

Introduced in 1988 with the 1985 vintage, Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG is the archetypal modern Chianti Classico. Pèppoli combines the complexity and structure of a well-aged riserva with the fruity fragrance of a young wine. This style is made possible by a unique microclimate where east-northeast facing vineyards are planted in a small heat-retaining valley on mineral-rich rocky soils that are perfect for growing very fruity, lively Sangiovese. The vineyard, located about 15 miles south of Florence, covers 247 acres along with over 6000 olive trees on the property. Intense red fruit aromas, especially redcurrants and raspberries, are amplified by light hints of vanilla and coffee sensations. This full-bodied wine is pleasantly lingering with soft, sweet tannins.
