Green Lea First School Newsletter – December 2017
Christmas Performances
Our Christmas performances will take place tomorrow at 1:30pm and 6pm. Children will be able to go home after the afternoon performance but must be back at school by 5:30pm. Please bear in mind car parking as we have around 80 people at each performance. Extra car parking is available at Mr Hine’s farm (Coton Farm) and the school gates will be open to allow people to use all the playground. Please be patient and use all the car parking available. Children have worked hard on the production and are very excited to perform to everyone. Please also bear in mind that it will be difficult to allow latecomers into the hall as the children will be sitting by the doors into the hall.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and thank you to FOGL who will be serving drinks in the evening.
Pre-school
Well done to pre-school who have already performed their Christmas Nativity. This was well attended with over 60 people there.
Clubs
Craft Club has now finished until after Christmas.
Tuesday – The last multiskills is Tuesday 12th December (although PE will take place on 19th December so children should still come in hoodies).
Thursday – The last chess club is Thursday 7th December. Many thanks to Mrs Swann and Mrs Dykes who have helped Mr Lloyd with this club in the Autumn term.
Friday – The last yoga session is Friday 15th December
Students
You may have met Miss Faizey and Mr Ward who are both trainee teachers at Derby University. They will be around lots next year and are a welcomed addition to our school.
Cashless System
You will have received a letter about a new cashless system we are going to trial in January. This will make payment for everyday items much easier for parents and has been very successful in other local schools.
Parent Governor
If you are interested in becoming a parent governor please see me. Governors play a vital role in the leadership and management of the school .
Children in Need
We had a visit from Pudsey for Children in Need – photographs are on the website to look at.
First Aid
Many thanks to Mrs Rashid, Mrs O’Leary and Miss Copeland for organising and leading the first aid day held in school on 23rd November. All children were taught basic first aid and how to contact the emergency services.
