Year: 7 / Term: ¨ 1 ¨ 2 ¨ 3 ¨ 4 / Key Ideas: Multi themes consisting of numbers, phone numbers, age, time and money
Topic Summary:
Students will learn numbers from 1 to 10, 000, learn how to ask someone’s age, year level at school, and phone number and respond, tell the time and ask someone for the time in Japanese and ask how much something is and respond. There is an emphasis on hiragana in this unit and kanji is also necessary for the learning of numbers.
Outcomes:

·  Compare and contrast Japanese monetary system to our own system
·  Recognise and write the numbers from 1-10,000 in hiragana
·  Recognise and write the numbers from 1-10,000 in kanji
·  Listen and speak using numbers from 1-10,000
·  Give key information to people, such as phone numbers, time, age, year level at school and ask others for the same information
·  Ask how much an object costs and also respond when being asked
·  Read and write the whole hiragana alphabet
·  Write and present a role play to the class using information such as name, age, phone number, year level at school, times and money
