The 2004 Washington, DC Follow-Up Plan of Action,

(Supplementary to The 1999 Los Angeles Plan of Action)

(As Adopted)

  1. Whereasthe Christ the King College Onitsha, Alumni Association in America (CKC-AAA) was established in 1997 and the purposes for which it is organized are exclusively charitable and educational within the meaning of section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law;
  1. Whereas the purpose of membership of CKC-AAA is to further the aims and goals of the Association, that is, to perform charitable and humanitarian work consistent with the Christ the KingCollege (C. K.C) Onitsha Motto: Bonitas, Disciplina, Scientia;
  1. Whereasthe Christ the King College Onitsha Alumni Association in America at its Third Annual Convention in Los Angeles, CA, adopted a the Los Angles Plan of Action of 7 August 1999, a five-year plan (1999-2004), aimed at revitalization of Christ the King College, Onitsha and mobilization of funds to that end;
  1. Whereasthe Christ the King College Onitsha, Alumni Association in America, meeting at its Eight Annual Convention, in the City of Laurel, MD on 16-18 July 2004,
  1. Mindful that the five-year life span of the Los Angeles Plan of Plan of Action (1999-2004) has elapsed;
  1. Convinced that the Christ the King College Onitsha, Alumni Association in America, has faithfully, to the best of its abilities and in conjunction with its partners implemented the goals set out in the Los Angeles Plan of Plan of Action (1999-2004);
  1. Gratified that its revitalization efforts at Christ the King College Onitsha, are yielding the desirable results;
  1. Cognizantthat much work is left and needs to be done to bring the Christ the King College Onitsha, back to its old glory before its Seventy-Fifth Anniversary in 2008;
  1. Committed to faithfully pursuing its mandate and aspirations to bring about the full revitalization and rehabilitation of the infrastructure Christ the KingCollege, Onitsha;
  1. Decides on the following, as an extension to the Los Angeles Plan of Action;
  2. That the 2004 Washington, DC Follow-Up of Plan of Action which supplements the 1999 Los Angeles Plan of Action, shall have a four year lifespan (2004 -2008), and shall henceforth guide the revitalization activities undertaken by CKC-AAA at CKC Onitsha;
  1. That the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CKC-AAA and CKC Onitsha National Old Boys Association signed in August 2000, setting up the National Alumni Project Oversight Committee (NAPOC) shall remain in force, for the duration of this Follow-Up Plan of Action;
  1. That the composition of the CKC Onitsha National Alumni Project Oversight Committee (NAPOC) under the Chairmanship of Arc. Frank Mbanefo, the current President of the CKC Onitsha National Old Boys Association shall remain the same;
  1. That the projects undertaken under this Follow-Up Plan of Action shall be supervised jointly by the CKC National Alumni Project Oversight Committee (NAPOC) and the National Executive Committee of the CKC Onitsha National Old Boys Association the under the Chairmanship of Arc. Frank Mbanefo; but that Chairman may co-opt other CKC alumni, to serve on the NAPOC as “Project Supervisors” or “Technical Advisers”, as need be;
  1. That CKC-AAA, shall pursuant to the 1999 Los Angeles Plan of Action, continue to raise funds for the revitalization and rehabilitation projects at Christ the King College, Onitsha for the duration this Follow-Up Plan of Action;
  1. That sums meant for rehabilitation projects, shall be disbursed to NAPOC in tranches or in full, in accordance with the needs and project estimates determined and approved by respective CKC-AAA Annual Conventions;
  1. That the main source of funding for the revitalization projects, shall remain the $500.00 (five hundred dollars) mandatory contribution by CKC-AAA members to the CKC Onitsha Revitalization Endowment Fund, which lifespan is hereby extended to 2008 and funds raised during CKC-AAA Annual Conventions and other outside contribution;
  1. That the main focus of this Follow-Up Plan of Action shall be the full rehabilitation of all existing classroom and dormitory buildings on the CKC Onitsha campus, and the completion of Administrative Building Block “E” before November 2008 when the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of the School will be celebrated; and
  1. To continue pursuing its efforts to facilitate the return of C.K.C. Onitsha to its original proprietor, the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha
  1. Requests CKC-AAA National Executives to henceforth faithfully implement the provisions of this Follow-Up Plan of Action, and to report to the CKC-AAA Annual Convention(s), progress made in the implementation of this Follow-UpAction Plan, especially paragraphs 10 (g), (h) and (i) above.

ADOPTS the twelve-point platform, “The 2004 Washington, DC Follow-Up Plan of Action”, as a supplement to The 1999 Los Angeles Plan of Action, as its work plan for Fiscal Year 2004 to Fiscal Year 2008, on this day Saturday, the 17 day of July 2004, in the City of Laurel, MD, DC, United Sates of America.
