County Delegate Report – November 2017

For the 2018 season County Competitions you will be able to pay for your entries by BACS as well as cheque.

Are there any ladies of Rowlands Castle willing to help on the course at County competitions? The knowledge of the Rules is not essential as it may only be monitoring the pace of play for the day or stationed on a hole. Also the County are looking for volunteers to help develop the Junior Girls Golf as they will be the playing members of the future.

The HLCGA AGM is at Otterbourne on 23rd November when Janet, Diana and Kath will receive the Knight Cup trophy for this year. Come along to support them and support Debbie Tapply as she takes up her role as Lady Vice Captain of Hampshire.

Keep your eyes on the County board for up and coming events. They will of course be on the website as well.

Liz Wade, County delegate

Golf Rules

I have been asked to include a ‘golf rules’ section in each newsletter. This month’s rule regards unplayable balls:-

If you believe your ball is unplayable, you may, under penalty of one stroke:

  • play a ball from where your last shot was played, or
  • drop a ball any distance behind the point where the ball lay keeping a straight line between the hole, the point where the ball lay and the spot on which the ball is dropped, or
  • drop a ball within two club-lengths of where the ball lay not nearer the hole.

If your ball is in a bunker you may proceed as above, except that if you are dropping back on a line or within two club-lengths, you must drop a ball in the bunker.
