Chiropractic care: a growing network for Oxford products

Providing you with comprehensive access to a broad network of chiropractors is our priority. Periodically, we evaluate our network and relationships to ensure that they continue to offer the quality, convenience and affordability that you have come to expect. As a result of a recent evaluation, we made some modifications to the chiropractic program for Oxford products.

Effective March 1, 2008, the administration of the chiropractic benefit for Oxford products changed from Triad to the ACN Group, a UnitedHealth Group company. ACN Group, a leading physical medicine company that has significant experience working with chiropractors and their patients and maintains a large network of providers in our region, will administer the benefit for UnitedHealthcare’s Oxford product for commercial, self-funded and Medicare members.

We expect this transition to be seamless for most Members because the network is now composed of both Oxford and ACN providers. Oxford’s chiropractors now participate with ACN Group, and with ACN’s providers, we have approximately 1,400 new chiropractors giving you expanded access. If you were seeing a participating provider, your responsibilities when receiving care will not change, and you should not need to do anything differently. If you were seeing a non-participating provider who is participating with ACN, you will now be able to see them on an in-network basis.

Please note: If you have a plan that requires referrals, you will still need to obtain a referral from your primary care physician or specialist to receive care from a participating chiropractor.

Additionally, the process for requesting in network chiropractic services will remain very much the same. Any minor process changes that are taking place have been communicated to your chiropractor and will be implemented by his or her practice. Again, your chiropractor, and not you, is responsible for following these minor changes.

As with any network transition, there may be a few providers who decide not to continue to participate. If you are seeing a provider who chooses not to continue to participate, you may be eligible for transitional care. Transitional care may enable your provider to be considered an in-network provider for a limited period beyond the date he or she discontinues their participation. To request transitional care, or to ask questions about this process, please call the Customer Service phone number on your OxfordID card.

We encourage you to choose a chiropractor from our wide selection of participating providers to minimize your out-of-pocket costs. You can select a participating chiropractic provider at our web site .
