All rising students English I General classes are required to read one text:

1. Required for all English I General students: Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar

All rising students in English I Honors and English I Gifted classes are required to read two texts:

1.  Required for all English I Honors and English I Gifted students:

Ø  Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar

2.  English I Honors and Gifted students must also read one of the following:

Ø  The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer

Ø  Mississippi Trial by Christopher E. Crowe

Ø  Tangerine by Edward Bloor

Ø  Uglies by Scott Westerfield

Per School Board Policy 2240, Leon County Schools recognizes that certain instructional materials may conflict with a student’s or parent’s value system.
