Job Duties: Reports to the Child Protection Administrator. Directly supervises child welfare case workers and other child welfare staff. Must have extensive foster care, adoption and out of home care knowledge and experience to support the activities related to foster children and out-of-home care and permanency. Must also possess a good working knowledge of the CA/N screening process, investigations, adult protective services, ongoing/protective &/or foster care/adoption activities.Responsible for supporting a successful Differential Response model in Clinton County. Is responsible for keeping Administrator informed about progress with meeting mandates and any situations with potential liability. Ensures and provides coverage and response for CA/N reports during afterhours and on-call. Maintains confidentiality. Responsible for setting employee goals, completing evaluations, monitoring individual performance and discipline. Completes regular case conferences with case workers. Ensures employees meet and/or exceed state and federal child welfare mandates. Reviews case records, documents, dictation, and activity logs. Collects data and generates reports. Assists with training and coaching staff and conducts regular team meetings. Consistently enforces program and personnel policies. Creates, implements, and monitors agency policies as needed. Coordinates activities, makes referrals, counsels families, and resolves conflict as it relates to customers. Works with and supports out of home placements to ensure foster children receive the best care possible. Responsible for matching meetings. May provide testimony in court and accompany staff to court hearings when appropriate. Collaborates with law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney on cases when appropriate. Supports other children’s services supervisors by providing coverage for their teams, specific activities &/or casework functions. Partners with other JFS departments to meet the needs of the community. Represents the agency and child protection unit in various community activities and partners with schools, other social service agencies and courts to collaborate, educate and support families and children in our community. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Social Work or related field and five (5) years relevant experience. Assessor Tier I & II certification preferred. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of child welfare mandates and statewide SACWIS computer system, ability to deal with people in difficult circumstances, experience with supporting and multi-tasking several programs or business units and good attendance. Valid driver’s license and back ground checks.
