Job Title: Junior Programme Manager

Reporting to: Director of Programmes

Responsible for: Valid projects and project support

Base: UK with travel

Salary: Grade 3 - £27,000 – £30,000 pa

Job Purpose To support high quality delivery of Valid projects .

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

1.  To work with the Director of Programmes and partner organisations to ensure high quality timely project delivery.

2.  Work with Valid team and consultants to ensure appropriate staff allocation, funding and overall management of new and ongoing projects.

3.  Provide technical support, or refer for appropriate technical support, for staff, consultants, field teams and partner agencies.

4.  Ensure compliance with reporting requirements as dictated by each donor or consultancy agreement and support completion of high quality, timely deliverables

5.  Support (and in some instances lead) development of new project proposals with clients for core business.

6.  Work with HR officer to recruit staff for projects and oversee orientation and performance once in post.

7.  Along with office manager coordinate travel/travel requirements for Valid consultants working on all projects or programmes.

8.  Support Finance and Office Manager in day to day running of Valid.

Decision Making and Financial Responsibilities:

The Junior Programme Manager can make decisions on the day to day management of Valid projects assigned to them. Policy decisions are made in conjunction with the Senior Management Team and Director.

These will be agreed with the jobholder in advance and will be within the scope of the job salary and the jobholder’s capabilities.’

Person Specification:

Abilities/Skills:
Essential:
·  At least 3 years’ experience in the humanitarian and/or development sector
·  Masters or equivalent in international nutrition or related subject
·  Experience of nutrition programming
·  Experience of project cycle management
·  Experience of monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and/or health programmes
·  Experience of working with funders from the humanitarian and development sectors
·  Ability to develop and write funding proposals
·  Ability to develop budgets for proposals and experience of project financial management
·  Good organisational skills
Desirable:
·  Ability to interpret nutritional data
·  Experience in addressing acute and chronic malnutrition
·  Experience of design, data collection and analysis of nutrition/health surveys and assessments
Other requirements:
·  Demonstrable interest in and commitment to the aims and values of international nutrition work
·  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of people
·  A flexible, proactive approach to the role
·  Fluency in English. Fluency in French would be an advantage.
