Summary of CCN:

Funded through the Ford Family Foundation, the Douglas County Child Care Network will increase overall quality of child care, improving outcomes for children in Douglas County through; 1) supporting child care providers on best practices and principles of childhood care and education, (including a strong emphasis on School Readiness) with Provider Educator/Coach; 2) improving Physical and Programmatic elements of Child Care programs; 3) Increasing the financial viability of the child care businesses through workforce development and business models. Project timeline: January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014

Highlights:

-Site visits/coaching based on individual program needs/self assessment.

-Consultation and access to community resources and development of shared alliance.

-Support to providers around the new Tiered Quality Rating Improvement System (TQRIS) to continue to build high-quality programs.

-Additional training opportunities and cohort/networking support.

Program Enhancement Funds:

Child Care Providers will receive up to $400 (CF,RF and Exempt) and $600 (Center)be used for program enhancements and quality improvement projects based on the preprogram self-assessment tool. Incentive may differ for late starting programs.

Professional Development Funds:

Funds are available and approved through the network coordinator.

Community Based Training:These funds are available to all providers and their employees to take community based training’s outside of Family Connections training’s to achieve a step 8.5 or lower in the Oregon Registry, all providers must have a completed professional development plan to be eligible. Smart Horizon’s online trainings, access through Family Connections website at can be paid directly from Family Connections, check with the network coordinator about this option.

Conferences:These funds are also available for early childhood approved conferences in Oregon in partnership with the Betty Gray scholarship fund, apply to the Betty Gray fund first, if you are denied, turn in your denial letter to the network coordinator, and fill out the request for funds form for reimbursement. OAEYC approved conferences can be paid directly from Family Connections, check with the network coordinator about this option.
