Chief’s Corner

February 9, 2005

We would like to announce to our community that our new web site is up and running. We can be found through the college home page under Administration and Finance or directly at www.stockton.edu/police/. We have attempted to make it user friendly and fill it with information about safety and security on the campus. There is a news bulletin area on our home page, a description of the department, our mission statement, our values and goals, our history, safety information, educational information, law enforcement links, employment and internship information, bicycle registration, compliment/complaint information, police blotter, parking regulations and frequently asked questions, email contact information for every member of the department and much more. We are still working on the web site and are constantly looking for suggestions to improve it. We ask that you take a few minutes and examine the site and provide any suggestions or comments to our webmaster, Officer Gio Maione. Our thanks to Parthi Paramananthan and Dan Gambert from the Computer Services Division for their support and guidance with this project.

We continue to ask for your cooperation with the NO SMOKING policy of the college. Specifically, smoking in NOT ALLOWED in any building, vestibule or connect-way in the main academic areas. New signs have been posted and we are asking the community’s assistance in reminding the smokers to move 25 feet from these areas when smoking.

We need to remind our residential students of the parking regulations and the requirement to have a residential parking permit on their vehicle. We have commenced enforcement of these regulations and ask for your cooperation with this issue. Also, residential students are again reminded that any guest in the residential housing areas after 10pm must be registered with Housing Net, have their vehicle registered and the permit displayed on the dashboard of their vehicle. Unregistered guests may be arrested, banned from campus and/or face campus charges. The resident student allowing the unregistered guest in their room/apartment will face sanctions from Housing and/or other campus action. Your cooperation is needed with this issue as it is your safety that is compromised by the unregistered/unwanted guest.

We continue to ask for your assistance as safety is everyone’s business. So please report any safety or security concern to us at X4390 or dial 911 in an emergency.
