DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

TheSpringLakePoliceDepartmentiscommittedtocustomerempowerment,transparencyandthenonbiasedprovisionofservicestothecommunity. Through theircorevaluesofHonor,Courage,Loyalty,andIntegrity,themembersoftheSpringLakePD strivetoimprovethequalityoflifefortheresidents. Theagencyisheavilyinvolvedinthecommunitythroughprograms,such as:Shop withaCop,NeighborhoodImprovementTeam,NationalNightOut,CommunityWatch,and CoffeewithaCop. The residents expect a Chief of Police that is accessible, involved and committed to diversity and inclusion in the delivery of services.

ReportingtotheTownManager,theChiefofPolicewilloverseeadepartmentof34swornand 3 non­swornpersonnelwithinanannualbudgetof$3.195million. QUALIFICATIONS:

TheTownseeksalawenforcementprofessionalwithaminimumof10years’progressivelawenforcementserviceincludingatleast3yearsofcommand-levelexperienceattherankofCaptainorhigher;aminimumofaBA/BS degreein publicadministration,criminaljustice,justiceadministration,orrelated field (Master'sdegreepreferred). Itispreferredthatthecandidateisagraduateofarecognizedexecutivelong coursesuch astheFBINationalAcademy,AdministrativeOfficersManagementProgram,SouthernPoliceInstitute,etc. IndividualsmusthavecurrentcertificationasalocalorstatelawenforcementofficerorequivalentmilitarylawenforcementMOScertification. Retiredindividualsmustnothavelongerthanaone(1)yearbreakinfull­timelawenforcementserviceat timeofappointment. NorthCarolinadoesnothavereciprocitywithFederallawenforcement certifications.
