Chief Executive Officer Report

August 2016

Administrative

  • Implementing a Team Member Services program to assist with all Human Resource matters including Recruiting, Hiring, Orientation, Professional Development, Evaluation, and policy and procedures. Ken Mayo will head up Team Member Services. He will also assist with outlining office re-organization and aligning similar duties. Personnel Committee review will examine assignments and responsibilities to encourage cross-training and holistic approach to families through bundled services.
  • Working with First Property Management to extend lease for Bainbridge one year. Will outline improvements for next summer.
  • Negotiated new leases and MOU with Leon and Franklin County Schools.

Impact: Better benefits for staff. Better fiscal accountability.

Programmatic

  • Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-ByWorld programs are underway with Case Managers working on their classes with guidance and support from Melissa Watson, Getting Ahead Coordinator. Wakulla County launched with six students and new staff in place. Trying to address transition concerns with pending retirement of Cynthia Valencic.
  • Head Start Staff submitted the Refunding Application and updated with the requested information. Outstanding Pre-Service for Head Start including an agency-wide staff meeting. Theme focused on “Commitment to Excellence – We are Community Action”. Invited guests included HHS Child Specialist Cindy Kaier, FSU Softball Coach LonniAlameada, and Creative Curriculum instructor.
  • Staff participatedwith the August 3rdjoint meeting with CareerSource / Community Action in Jacksonville. A joint workgroup will work together on future steps. Additionally, staff will attend the statewide workforce meeting in Orlando in September.

Impact: Redesigning entitlement programs to toward more independency services.

Communications and Outreach

  • Step Up for Gadsden July event produced prioritized action steps for partners with timelines.Working on hosting an open house at our agency offices with CareerSource.
  • Maintain regular meeting schedule with Jim McShane, CareerSource Capital Region. Co-locating offices has increased partnership between the agencies.

Impact: Developing the infrastructure necessary to support the Agency mission

Resource Development

  • Developing a Prosperity Circle – fundraising campaign – donors make three-year pledges. Wells Fargo is included.
  • United Way funded Head Start ($80,000) and Getting Ahead ($10,000) and community grants.

Impact: Broaden the community network supporting the Agency efforts and services.
