4. / Youth trustees
The Charity Commission has published A Breath of Fresh Air, which shows that only 0.5 per cent of charity trustees are aged 18 to 24. It says one of the biggest barriers to young trusteeship is a lack of awareness of the role of a trustee among young people.
5. / Cuts facing the sector
CYP Now and NCVYS would like you to help us establish the size of cuts facing the sector by taking part in a short survey. We will use your evidence to hold the government to account for funding difficulties the sector is facing in advance of the Comprehensive Spending Review in October. We cannot make a case unless we can argue with real evidence about your experience on the ground. Members are requested to respond and to circulate this within their networks. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete and the deadline for completing questionnaires is 17 September.

6. / Take part in BYC's Big Listen for Autumn 2010!
BYC wants to hear the opinions of young people aged 25 and under across the UK on the Government's 'Big Society' agenda. The Big Society is the Coalition Government's vision of a society where individuals and communities have more power and responsibility, and use it to create better neighbourhoods and local services.
BYC think it's important that politicians listen to young people's views on the Big Society and initiatives like the National Citizen Service.
We will be sending the results of this survey to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Office - the Government department responsible for making the Big Society happen.
Take part in the survey and enter the prize draw for the chance to win:
- The 1st prize of a Merlin Standard Annual Pass - giving you 12 months free entry to the UK's top attractions, such as Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, the London Eye and Sea Life centres, and other passholder perks.
- Three runner ups will also win a £50 WH Smiths voucher!
The deadline to have your say is Sunday 10th October by midnight.
