Chicago International English Institute - Recruiter/Foreign teacher Liaison – August 2005-presently

I currently am responsible for relaying all foreign affairs between the school and its foreign employees. Recruiting, interviewing, hiring and contract negotiations are conducted by me before being finalized with the Human Relations department. I also give all new employees an orientation of the school and Shenyang in general.

Swisstar Communication Consulting Shangai Co. – Training Manager

My position within this company involved training newly recruited teachers so that all classes were being taught consistently. Curriculum development and course materials, 2 training manuals have been completed to date.

Shanghai School for Administrators (in association with SISU University)

I trained government employees and the hotel department heads from the Nationally-owned hotel management groups such as the Jin Jiang, and Hengshan Group. Most of my students come from the Sales department, and Operational Managers, also including several General Managers.

I organized the curriculum for 6 levels being offered by our school including Beginner, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced, Business and Corporate. ETSTOPE course books were used as the basis of our corporate classes.

Teacher trainer – 19Jul03 – 15Aug03 Ocean University, Ace Education Management. Teaching Qingdao area teachers English for a new bilingual teaching program. This is a pilot project organized by the Qingdao Education Commission. An intensive one month course focusing on teaching science and math in English, my focus was the general approach to western teaching styles and listening and speaking so that teachers could implement this into their classes.

had contracts with public schools to teach grade 7 and 8 students their English curriculum.

IELTS Trainer – Guan Ya American English Training Center, 03Jan03 – 03Jul03

I helped co-ordinate the IELTS itinerary for the beginners speaking class of students taking the International English Language Testing System. This class caters primarily to adult wishing to work or study abroad. My classes ran for 5 weeks, except for the intensive speaking which was 12 weeks, at 3 hours a class. I was fortunate enough to be offered such a prestigious position within my school, and have learned a great deal of hands on experience in the classroom.

Distribution Services - Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, 3 years

I worked as support for travel agents trying to book Fairmont Hotels through their travel agent systems. Training was involved to several different groups, internally to co-workers as well as to visitors to our centre. I also supported hotels using our software for their hotel’s maintenance. I have had a change in this position to present our department and the role we play within the company. I was solely responsible for submission of our hotel’s participation with discount affiliates on a weekly basis.

Education:

I have earned an accreditation as an English teacher (TESOL), from an International TESOL training center, offered by Teach and Travel. This course has taught me the fundamentals of teaching in a classroom. I have been exposed to lesson planning and a variety of creative classroom techniques.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick 1998-2002: This program offered courses such as business communications, public relations and general computer applications.

Languages:

I am fluent in English, French and have intermediate spoken Chinese skills.
