Military Award

The Northeast Region Inc. of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc. awards a Registered Nurse or student nurse who have made significant contributions to the nursing profession, the health care of veterans, or in service to our country.

Military/Veteran Nurse Award

This award is presented to an individual veteran nurse or student nurse in recognition of their dedication to improving the healthcare of communities through the demonstration of one or more of the following:

•Active participation with legislative issues through writing campaigns, speaking engagements, and/or publication of literature which positively influenced a change.

•Personal sacrifice through volunteerism with underserved groups.

•Active involvement with special interest groups who seek to improve the quality of healthcare for veterans or members of the militarycommunity.

Professional Nurse Award for Clinical Excellence

This award is presented to a registered nurse who has made an outstanding contribution to the nursing care of veterans through excellence in clinical practice. Examples of each area must be addressed:

•Serving as a role model or mentor for other veteran nurses.

•Improving nursing care of veterans through implementing best practices or evidence-based practices.

•Serving as an advocate for veterans' healthcare by advancing patient care, legislative action, or participating in local, regional or national nursing activities.

Non-military Nurse Award

This award is presented to a non-military registered nurse who has provided exceptional care or service to individuals who are serving in, or have served in the military. In order to receive this award, two of the following three areas must be satisfied:

•Serving as an advocate for veteran rights to receive quality health care and services.

•Improving nursing care of veterans through implementing best practices or evidence-based practices.

•Serving as an advocate for veterans' healthcare by advancing patient care, legislative action, or participating in local, regional or national nursing activities that improve the care of disabled veterans.

The Process

•The nominee must submit an application form to the chair of the Military Award Committee

•The nominee must complete a 350-word essay describing how the criteria of the award is met

•The deadline for submission of application is March 15th of each award year

•The award will be presented during the Annual Regional Conference
