Residential Care Officers play an important role in supporting and supervising care staff as well as being part of the senior team. A background in working with older people is essential and you will be required to achieve NVQ 3.

Day Care Assistants (Ref. 00643)

£13,014 - £15,096 p.a. pro-rata. Grade C, SCP 10 -15 (£6.74 - £7.82 per hour) (Pay award pending)

You will need to be committed to providing person-centred care in a sensitive and professional manner. Previous experience is desirable and you will be required to achieve NVQ 2 in care.

Night Care Assistants (Ref.00647)

Part time hours available– minimum 11 hours

Waking Night Care Assistants carry out the same duties as day care assistants and are required to ensure the safety of service users during the night.

We are seeking staff who are interested in providing cover for annual leave, sickness etc in both the care homes and day centres throughout the Newbury/Hungerford area. You may need to cover at short notice so a degree of flexibility is required.

JOB PURPOSE
Walnut Close Resource Centre is a care home that provides 24 hour accommodation for 12 older people, which specialises in providing care for older people in a homely and supportive environment where the service users can feel happy and secure and to enable them to achieve their maximum independence.
Within the resource centre there is also12 rehabilitation /intermediate care places providing planned programmes of rehabilitation for people aged 50 years and above.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·  To care for the physical and mental needs of older people throughout the night.
·  To be responsible for the residents and recognise the need to contact a Doctor or Emergency Services if a resident requires medical attention.
·  To be responsible for the security and maintenance of the building throughout the night.
·  To contact the duty officer on call at home in the event of an emergency that is stated in the night staff guidelines.
·  To help maintain the residents independence and create a supportive and homely atmosphere.
·  To undertake cleaning duties throughout the home including washing and ironing to ensure hygiene in the home is kept up to a high level of standard.
·  To undertake training identified within the staff skills profile which includes NVQ level 2 in Care.
·  To follow all guidelines and policies set by West Berkshire Council.
·  To undertake such additional duties as may be necessary for the efficient running of the establishment.
SCOPE OF JOB (Budgetary/Resource control, Impact)
You will be expected to be on waking duty for the whole period of your shift. You will be permitted to take a half hour break during the night to allow you to have food and drink but it is expected that you remain alert to the needs of the residents at all times and you will therefore be paid the normal rate for this break.

1.  To participate in the working rota during the waking day including weekends and bank holidays
