***If you submit the entire lab through Google Drive, you will earn extra credit for your lab for the first lab.

***If you can’t access Google Drive, print and submit on scratch paper for extra credit for the first lab. Printed on new white paper will be for no extra credit.

***Make sure your lab is in 12 Point Font, Times New Roman, with Pictures From Your Phone.

***Make sure that your lab is organized in the following order:

1.  Introduction – 2 paragraphs introducing the lab

  1. Paragraph 1: Write about the BIG problem. Use your pre-lab notes, video clips, discussions, etc. to help you summarize the real world problem.
  2. Paragraph 2: What is the overall question you are trying to answer? Write about how you plan on finding a solution to the big problem. What is the purpose of this lab? What are you doing in this lab that relates to that problem? How can your lab address the big problem?

2.  Hypothesis – Must be an “If…then…because” statement.

3.  Experiment – Describe your experiment and the process. What steps will you take? What materials will you use?

4.  Data Analysis – Analyze your data. How do you know if you’re successful? Are your results consistent or were you lucky? Do you see any patterns or trends? This is where you would organize all your photos by trials.

5.  Conclusion – This is where you convince me that you earned your grade! Include all six parts listed below with details for the best grade possible!

  1. Summarize your purpose here to remind us of the point/purpose of the lab.
  2. Include the chapter’s BIG IDEAS, and major lessons that you learned in this portion. DEFINE all vocabulary in your introduction.
  3. Discuss and analyze your hypotheses in this section (if applicable). State whether your results proved OR disproved the hypothesis/purpose of the experiment. IF NO HYPOTHESIS IS AVAILABLE TO ANALYZE, discuss your data table and any patterns you notice.
  4. Analyze the procedures for this lab. Why does (or doesn’t) the experiment work? What improvements can be made to better this experiment?
  5. Discuss error analysis in this section. What mistakes did you or your group members make during the lab? No lab is perfect, so always talk about POSSIBLE mistakes as well.
  6. This section MUST reflect though and understanding on your part! Name one specific lesson you learned after this lab and reflect on strong concepts that you now understand.
