Charter: Merchandising and Retailing Society

Planet MARS (Merchandising and Retailing Society) - the nonprofit, student run store on campus is the backbone of the students in IIMB. We sell everything that a typical IIMBian needs during the stay in campus. Our offering starts from the welcome kit for pgp1s till packers and movers for outgoing students. In short, we simplify the life of students.

We, the Martians, open shop on every single day, be it exams or fests, keeping in line with our motto of Simplifying Life. Students in IIMB are provided INR 800 per month from hostel account as credit limit to purchase from MARS.

The activities which would be conducted to achieve the same are:

Retailing:

  • Shop will be open every day on campus between 8.30 to 9.15 pm.
  • Normally available stuff at shop: stationaries, candies, medicines, toiletries etc.

Activities:

  • Curtains, mats and other stuff for comfortable stay of pgp1s on first week of arrival
  • Calculators
  • Bean bags
  • Business suits
  • Passport photos
  • Rakhi day celebration and event for students
  • Packers and movers activity for outgoing students

Merchandising:

  • MARS holds exclusive rights to do IIMB merchandising on campus excluding sections merc items by first years, other club related event merc like Vista, Unmaad etc.

Activities:

  • IIMB merc tees, sweatshirts, bags etc.
  • Placement folders
  • All other IIMB merc items
  • MARS does stock merc items of other clubs on campus. However this decision is subject to change based on decision of MARS team at start of academic year. Mail for the same will be sent to all clubs on campus. We follow same rules and conditions for all clubs without any partiality.

Events:

  • Retailer: Retailing event conducted by MARS under Vista every year. The event count may increase or decrease depending on discussions with FII.

Other Initiatives:

  • Any new initiative apart from what ever mentioned now will be decided by new team.

Membership Structure:

MARS is a flat organisation with 10 PGP1 and 10 PGP2 students and an equal opportunity and freedom for everyone.

Feedback and Mid Term Review:

The feedback is usually continuous with complete freedom to every member to voice their thoughts. On a more formal note, there will be a midterm review to provide feedback.

Members Selection Criteria:

There are no defined qualifications required but some attributes we look for are:

-Ability to work with teams

-Dedicated and willingness to take initiatives

-Enthusiastic & Fun-loving!
