ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP:

Kiwanis is a global service organization dedicated to serving children and disadvantaged youth . . . one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis “family” includes a High School service club (Key Club), University aged club (CKI) as well as adult Kiwanis Clubs

The Charlie Dixon Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship is awarded by the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount to recognize demonstrated commitment to volunteer community service and leadership within the University or the community at large.

·  There are a maximum of ten (10) scholarships of $200 each awarded annually at the end of the academic year; (subject to committee discretion)

·  Recipients must be full time University of Calgary students in good standing and returning to school the following term;

·  The Scholarship Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount will assess applicants primarily on volunteer involvement in community service and leadership. Financial need and academic achievement are secondary considerations.

·  A formal application in the prescribed form must be completed and submitted by
May 30th [Close Date may be extended at the committee discretion)

HOW TO APPLY:

The application has five (5) components;

  Application form containing applicant details

  Community Service log outlining the applicant’s involvement in various community service organizations or volunteer projects that benefit the community or individuals in need.

  A brief essay (maximum 300 words) to highlight the applicant’s leadership experience either formally or informally to improve the organizations, communities or causes in which they participate or support

  The opportunity to provide other information you believe relevant

  Confirmation of status as a full – time student in good standing (as defined by University and the program of studies) and returning the University the following year.
