CHARING CROSS HOTEL

The meeting opened at 7:40pm

1.Welcome Danny Caretti- Convenor

2.Minutes of last meeting were not passed due to lack of quorum at the time. There was concern that no one had received a recent flyer advising of the meeting date and time. As a trial the flyers for the next meeting would be delivered by the Precinct Executive.

3.Matters Arising: Nil

4.Special Presentation “Installing a Water Tank.” Shane Emms and Ben Sheer from “Water Harvest”. Because of low attendance it was decided to invite them back in February 2008.

5.Development Applications

235-239 Bronte Road

Land and Environment Court appeal on a Deemed Refusal. To be heard 28th August. Precinct to present evidence to support a refusal. Precinct to make submission on Council’s DCP 2006 regarding Heritage and other provisions in the shopping strip resulting from issues identified in preparing for the Court.

67 Henrietta Street

Letter of objection submitted to proposed demolition of terraced house in an intact row of four. Outcome: Council refused development consent.

St Catherine’s School 315-317 Bronte Road

Danny Caretti said St Catherine’s has submitted its fifth application about this site in 2 years. The most recent being a “S.96 review of Determination of the Development Application” (DA651/2005) to: -

-Extend approved hours of operation for the car park to be built on the site, (approved as 8 – 5 Monday to Friday) to 7am-9pm weekdays and ???? Saturdays & Sundays

-Delete Council’s requirement for a garden to replace the proposed all-weather playing court (ie build the court with surrounding high chain mesh fence)

Danny Caretti also advised the application would go to an IHAP meeting & asked if a Charing Cross Representative (Margaret Hope) could be present.

Advertising on Telephone Booths.

Letter of objection submitted regarding advertising proposed for telephone booth in Charing Cross.

Residents agreed the booth should be moved further up towards the League’s Club.

14 Gipps Street

Land and environment appeal to be heard on the 13th September. Margaret Hope to represent the Precinct following submission objecting to the proposal.

6.General Business

- CentennialPark Bikeway Darley and York Rds

-No crossing for Pedestrians and Bikes at Darley and York Rds

Mora Main to follow up

- Pedestrian Crossing Inquiry Bronte Rds between Commonwealth Bank and Bellagio's

-Is there any follow up to the Pedestrian count done by Pat Kenny on behalf of the precinct to the intersection.
