/ Associate Chief, Podiatry Service, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center / I have known Matt Garoufalis in both a professional and personal capacity for the last 5 years. I first met Matt in Washington DC while I was visiting the States in my capacity as Vice Chairman of the College of Podiatry. It was evident from this first meeting Matt was the ultimate professional who demonstrated true empathy for patients under his care. Matt’s main interest lies in the field of diabetes and the consequent management of diabetic foot disease. It is clearly evident form his CV that he places a very significant value in developing his own clinical skill in his pursuit of clinical excellence. In additional to running a highly successful practice in Chicago, Matt is a skilled politician who has held a number of elected posts within the American Podiatric Medical Association culminating in his election to President in March 2013. Matt places Podiatric Medicine at the heart of his professional life, he is the consummate professional and is the role model for many aspiring young clinicians. Consequently I have no hesitation in supporting his application for Fellowship of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine. / A

Dr Tariq Khan (89136) / Medical Director, Firefly Orthoses, RoI / I have known Mr McGeough for over a decade in a professional capacity. After establishing Firefly Orthosis, he continued to combine education of podiatrists with his devt of the Orthosis business. He has run 2 very successful symposia, where world leaders in podiatric biomechanics have lectured. He travels extensively both promoting podiatric biomechanics to practitioners as well as developing his own personal knowledge, which he readily passes on both in his own clinical practice as well as in his commitments to Firefly and his continued teaching commitments. In addition he still manages to maintain clinical commitments. I feel he will be an excellent addition to the FPM and his continued high profile in our profession will serve the college well. / A

Joanne McCardle

Paul Chadwick / Deputy Head of Podiatry (Swansea), Morriston Hospital / Rosalyn is one of the leads in Diabetes foot care locally and nationally. She leads the podiatry team in her area and is recognised as an expert in the field. She has engaged with numerous areas of research and audit within the area and has presented clinical findings nationally and internationally. Locally she has written in partnership with the medial team, guidelines for management of diabetic foot ulceration. Dr C Semple

/ Senior Community Podiatrist, Clevedon Hospital Somerset / I have known Robert (Glyn) Wallen both in a professional and personal capacity for over 10 years. Glynn graduated from the Northern College of Chiropody in 1977 and very quickly completed his teachers training at St Hellens College of further Education. Glynn has always had an immense capacity for education and in 1995 completed a Master in Law degree from the University of Wales in Cardiff and is currently completing his Masters degree in Diabetes from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Glyn is a very modest man and although he has written widely in the medical legal aspects surrounding Podiatric Medical practice he does not acknowledge his contribution to this aspect of the profession. In addition to his scholarly activity Glyn has more recently embarked upon a more political role in his professional life. He has just assumed the Chair of the delegate assembly within the College of Podiatry and is an alternative member of the Professional Body Council. I have no hesitation in supporting Glyn’s application for Fellowship of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine. I am certain Glyn’s academic ability coupled with his legal and political expertise will be of immense value to the development of the Faculty in the future. / A

Dr Tariq Khan (89136) / Podiatry Specialist, RMS Bahrain Defence Force Hospital / I have known Noor for a period 13 years, initially as her Head of Department when she was an UG student at QMU, then as a PG student at Glasgow Caledonian University where I have responsibility for all Nursing and AHP PG students and finally as a professional colleague.
