Nature and Purpose of Agency
Change for Kids believes a strong elementary school experience sets students on the path to college and career success. We partner with exceptional elementary school leaders in high-poverty New York City communities to provide targeted program, volunteer and leadership support.
Tasks Available for Students
P.S. 160 is seeking ten energetic volunteers for their innovative reading and math tutoring program. This tutoring program allows volunteers to develop a deep and meaningful relationship with students while helping them master areas of difficulty. The program matches volunteers with two or more students each week for 45 minute tutoring sessions (see below for shifts). The focus is on literacy (including comprehension, fluency and vocabulary) and math (number sense and operations).

Time Requirements
Volunteers are expected to commit to a once a week shift for spring semester (January - April). The following shifts are available:
Thursdays only
8:15am - 11:00am
OR
11:50am - 2:10pm
Volunteer who would like to assist with a special event must contact Ms. Powell three weeks in advance. The special event calendar can be found in the AS-L Office at the front desk.
Other Requirements:
Students need to be fingerprinted. CFK Staff will help facilitate this process for volunteers.
