/ FARGO SOCCER CLUB
Conflict of Interest Policy / It is the policy of Fargo Soccer Club Soccer Club that individuals who have contact with players and who are in a position of authority such as:
  • Head Coaches
  • Assistance Coaches
  • Master/Age-group Coaches
  • Team Managers
  • Directors of Coaching
  • FSC President Members
May NOT in any way, whether directly, indirectly, through proxy, by inference or implication, market/promote any non-Fargo Soccer Club programs, including the following examples:
  • Camps
  • Clinics
  • Performance Programs (“FIT Studios”, “Kick-it”, “Acceleration Minnesota”, “Sanford Power”, “Lionheart Academy”, “Coerver”, Etc.)
In which they have any financial interest such as:
  • Ownership. Whole or Partial
  • Employment. Fulltime, part-time, independent contractor, consultant, advisor, etc.
  • Scout or any other compensated position.

Violations: / All three conditions must be met to constitute a violation.

  • It is not a violation to have a financial stake in a program and be in a position of authority as long as no promotion/marketing activities occur
  • It is not a violation to be in a position of authority and promote/market a program as long as no direct or indirect financial stake is held

Measurements: / There are a number of different ways violations of this rule can be established. The most obvious is:
  • If an individual in a position of authority with a financial interest in a program furnishes a player/parent with any information that reasonably can be construed to promote this program.
The materials distributed, whether printed or electronic, will be proof of the violation.
This is not to exclude other forms of proof. Other examples include:
  • Several independent sources stating that verbal promoting/marketing has occurred.
If the FSC President feels that solid proof (e.g. flyer or e-mail) is missing or are not confident that the sources are fully independent, the Club will seek to establish whether the attendance percentage of players from the team(s) in question who are in the suspected program is similar to the other teams.
  • If the percentage is similar, the suspected individual in authority will not be subject to any of the consequences listed below. Since there was a misperception, the individual as well as the team will be reminded of this policy.
  • If the percentage exceeds the norm the individual will be subject to the consequences as listed below.

Consequences: / IftheFargo Soccer Club’s President finds it reasonable to believe an individual in a position of authority has violated this policy, and thus the trust of our Club and its membership, said individual will be asked to remove the conflict of interest immediately and without delay.
This can be done by either resigning and severing all financial ties from the program in question or resigning from their position inFargo Soccer Club
