Chamber Committee Opportunities

Committee members of the West Coast Chamber turn ideas into action. Working with the Chamber's professional staff, our volunteers help facilitate the programs and services that enhance the success of our members and the greater business community.

Chamber committees are made up of members who volunteer their time and efforts to make our organization stronger. Committee participation is a great way to network, share ideas, and build lasting professional relationships.

Ambassador Committee

The Ambassador Committee engages members through a variety of programs including events and personal contacts. Ambassadors work with the Chamber staff to enhance member value and retention through planned activities that benefit our diverse members and community.

Impact Award Selection Committee

The Impact Award Selection Committee reviews nominations for the Impact Awards and selects outstanding organizations as its recipients. The Impact Award recognizes an outstanding positive contribution to our community by a company or organization. The action could be for beautification, trusteeship, education, or a caring act. It involves a sacrifice of time, money, resources, or some other element that creates a positive impact.

Lakeshore 504 Central Loan Committee

The Lakeshore 504 Central Loan Committee screens potential projects for the US Small Business Administration’s 504 Loan Program. The Loan Committee ensures that potential building and capital equipment projects benefit the community from an economic development perspective, and that basic SBA credit objectives are met.

Lakeshore ATHENA Award Committee

The Lakeshore ATHENA Award Committee reviews ATHENA Award applications annually and selects an award recipient who demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in business, provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others, and actively assists women in realizing their full leadership potential. The Lakeshore ATHENA Award is a program of the West Coast Chamber, the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce, and The Chamber of Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Ferrysburg.

Leads Networking Groups

The Chamber’s LEADS Networking Groups bring members together to network, build business relationships, and share qualified leads in order to grow business. Leads groups are limited to one person from each professional classification. Attendance is critical to the success of each group, so members are allowed only three absences per calendar year.

Public Policy Committee

The Public Policy Committee identifies, analyzes, and prioritizes key issues and topics at all levels of government related to the business community. The committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on positions that align with the overall mission of the West Coast Chamber and affect our local economy, business environment, and quality of life.

Small Business Person of the Year Selection Committee

The Small Business Person of the Year Selection Committee reviews award nominations and selects an award recipient who has been in business for at least five years and who exemplifies the best of small business in our community. Nominees are judged on the basis of their success in their fields of endeavor and their efforts to provide employment to the West Coast community.

West Coast Leadership Executive and Curriculum Committees

West Coast Leadership Executive and Curriculum Committees develop the program that builds an informed, committed, and diverse network of community trustees who share a sense of stewardship of our community and its resources.
